The Chainsmokers’ Alex Pall told it all to interviewer Matthias Rosenweig recently, letting his fans in on a bit of his backstory, and telling them where he sees the group going in the future.
Pall started his career as a DJ, working various gigs in and around New York City before linking up with now-bandmate Andrew Taggart. The two made fast friends, and were soon spending full days in Alex’s apartment, each lending their own styles and tastes to create music they think people will love to hear. Pall also discussed working with Halsey on the hit song “Closer”. “She’s incredible,” he said gushing over the opportunity to work with the star. “If you had asked us over the last year who was an artist that we wanted to work with, Halsey was number one on that list. She’s a very cool and unique artist.”
And as for the key to their success, Alex Pall credits social media for spreading their work internationally. “We’re seeing places like the Philippines and South Africa” he told the interviewer, explaining that platforms like Instagram allow him to connect with fans and bring his music to groups that might never have had the chance to hear it otherwise. See This Page for related information.
He also says that the decision to actually write their own music and perform live separated them from another DJ’s trying to make it. “None of these people write the lyrics to their songs” Pall explains. “We work with songwriters too, but we write the songs with them—they’re about us. We sit in the room; we’re throwing our hands in. Some of the songs, we wrote the whole thing. Some of them, we’re there guiding it. It’s always different but it’s always us.”
The Chainsmokers, however, are not content with simply writing and performing their own music to set them apart from the pack. Pall said that they are looking to continue to push themselves and find new ways to connect with fans. “It’s all about being on the forefront of pushing new boundaries and giving people new experiences,” he says.

In American music culture there is always a Latin artist that seems to breakout into the American entertainment community. More than 4 decades ago it was Gloria Estefan and the Miami Sound Machine. In the 1999 it was Ricky Martin. This would be followed by Jennifer Lopez, Shakira, Selena Gomez and a host of others. All of this Latin energy in music would spell crossover success for the artists that could sing in English. Crossover appeal is what Norka Luque hopes for, and she definitely seems to be heading in the right direction.
Norka had performance at a Billboards party, and this is an instrumental step into American culture. Billboards track the chart toppers in terms of record sales. To be recognized as an artist that could perform at a Billboards party shows the potential that is there.
