Bruce Levenson Seeks To Finally End Insurance Claim From Hawks Ownership Days

The former owners of the Atlanta Hawks, headed by Bruce Levenson, have announced they will soon return to court in a bid to end an insurance claim that dates back to the mutual termination of the contract of Hawks General Manager Danny Ferry. The legal team of the Atlanta Hawks Basketball & Entertainment LLC Bruce Levenson has headed for over a decade have filed court papers explaining comments made by Ferry, who had an $18 million six year contract with the franchise, constituted constructive dismissal and should have resulted in a payout from AIG.

According to ESPN, the arrival of Bruce Levenson in the NBA also saw him take over the Atlanta Thrashers NHL franchise, but this was eventually sold in a bid to focus resources on the more popular and profitable NBA brand. Levenson has always had a keen eye for business and proved this with the success he created from a single oil industry newsletter that morphed into the real time information business that is the Bruce Levenson owned UCG.

Bruce Levenson believes his role as a business leader goes far deeper than simply continuing to find success in the many companies he has founded; Levenson instead looks to develop close community links that have continued throughout his life in his native state of Maryland. Over the course of his career Bruce Levenson has looked to develop greater links to the institutions and groups he enjoys, including his commitment to the arts handled by a close tie in with the Kennedy Center for the Arts.

In recent years, Bruce Levenson and his wife, Karen have looked to develop a more global outlook that is shown through their support of philanthropic causes backed by the University of Maryland in developing countries. Levenson has also looked to battle hatred and bigotry in the U.S. through much of his current work. Dick DeVos Continues His Fight For Education Reform

Like most of us I enjoy hearing the personal stories of how and why those involved in not for profit activities began their journey to give back to others. I recently read an interview with Betsy DeVos published by Philanthropy Roundtable that gave me an insight into why she and husband Dick DeVos got involved in education reform, and continue to do so after more than 30 years working towards their goals; I was impressed by the news that the need for education reform was identified by Dick and Betsy DeVos through personal experience of meeting fellow parents struggling to get the best possible education for their children in the most difficult of circumstances. Betsy DeVos reveals a visit to Potter’s Christian School in Michigan was the starting point into education reform activism for the couple as they hoped to help others who did not have the choice of educational opportunities the success of the DeVos family afforded Dick and Betsy. The article was extremely revealing in my view as it provided me with some information about the fact education reform was seen as an extremely difficult aspect of the community that was not understood at the outset of the work of Dick DeVos.

Dick DeVos has been successful in almost every area he has sought to take part in during his business and philanthropic careers. As the President of the AmWay Group for over a decade Dick DeVos led the company on one of its most successful periods of success after Dick took over the company from his father, Richard, another well known philanthropist in the Michigan area I read on the Dick DeVos Wikipedia page. Dick has sought to develop American values that are seen as traditional in the eyes of the public through his role with the Willow Creek Association, which is hoping to make sure the values the U.S. were built upon are not lost in the 21st century. I have been pleased to see education reform and the introduction of charter schools still rates highly on the work of Dick DeVos and the Dick and Betsy DeVos Family Foundation that is still working to improve the lives of people across the U.S.

In 2010, he was severely beaten by the authorities in Ho Chi Min City after secretly taping an interview with the leader of a banned Buddhist church who spent 28 years under house arrest.

According to Crunchbase, Thor Halvorssen was released after convincing the authorities that he only went into the church because he wanted to convert to Buddhism. Fortunately, Halvorssen’s cameraman was able to get away the the valuable video card of the interview with the Buddhist leader hidden in a very private place.

Thor Halvorssen has a different temperament than most human rights activists. He doesn’t have the gloomy and dour world-weary attitude that is exhibited by many human rights advocates. He is upbeat. Halvorssen loves people. This is especially true when it comes to liberty-loving dissidents who stand up to tyrannic oppression.

Thor Halvorssen and the Human Rights Foundation have made it their mission to expose despotic rulers around the world. They do not discriminate between political ideologies.
